The Multiband Texture (MBT) database is composed of 154 three-channel texture images whose color and spatial information cannot be separated. These images have very rich chromatic and textural information components. In MBT images, the color content does not introduce discriminative information because it is very similar for all of the MBT images. The color of the MBT images is mainly the result of inter-band and intra-band texture variation. Figure 1 and Figure 2 give the color distributions for two images from the MBT database: Dz54 and Dz127. The x axis represents colors ranging from hue=0° to hue=360° and the y axis is the frequency of the corresponding color. These two figures contain the whole color spectrum instead of a specific localized color range as is the case for other color texture databases, such as the VisTex images shown in Figure 3 (Fabric.0001) and Figure 4 (Water.0005).
